What does a Business Analyst do and how does it contribute to the business?

In a world where data abounds, it is necessary to have the ability to select it, order it and interpret it correctly in order to make informed and correct decisions.

More and more companies have realized this need, unleashing the search for Business Analyst, a role that has experienced a boom in demand and that is among the first places in the "areas with greater employability" in the coming years.

What are the qualities necessary to perform as a Business Analyst?

1. Observation, analytics, and curiosity

This way you can collect as much information as possible and review this data to arrive at correct interpretations. This role is based on being able to detect gaps, determine their impact and capture it in the simplest way possible so that informed decisions can be made.

2. Effective communication

Knowing how to take advantage of the appropriate moments with the people who are involved in the process in question, it is key to always keep in mind that changes are gradual or difficult to detect at first glance unless it is in a crisis context (as in the case of a possible bankruptcy), therefore basing on data and making the collected information visible becomes the main point for effective Business Analyst.

3. Find the right tool

Within the data visualization tools, all have advantages and disadvantages, and your choice varies according to need. For example, the case of Google Data Studio: it is free and easy to integrate, but the use of formulas is not the most complete. Another case is that of Airtable which is very useful for making comparisons and which is very supportive for commercial and marketing functions since it allows a wide collaboration.

It is very important that the tool used can be integrated at the organizational level to have an inter-area look and connect more enriching data than if they were separate. The intelligent organization collects the data that is generated in each daily interaction to generate powerful strategic and tactical insights.
